I didn't notice that it's Friday already. Days do pass by quickly when you're so busy.

Takada-sensei looked at our portfolios today, and he seems impressed by my drawings. But he said I draw too many nature stills and landscapes, and he wants me to try to moving on to other subjects, like portraits and such. Not that I'm bad at drawing people, but everyone's always moving and it's hard to capture movement. Unless someone would be willing to model for me. And I highly doubt that there would be. He wants me to give him ten portrait sketches by next week. Damn.

For the meantime, a meme:

Ask me any question or post a secret here anonymously and I'll answer you with nothing but the truth.

Topics can include:
-- The best time you've ever had
-- The worst time you've ever had
-- Who you love most (without names, obviously)
-- Who you dislike most
-- The most illegal thing you've ever done
-- And anything else you like, really.

Saw that from Atobe's journal, so I decided to do it too. It would be interesting, I think, and it'd help us get to know each other better. So don't hesitate to tell or ask whatever :)

I have homework on all subjects. I shouldn't be that surprised, really, but still. I'm done with the required drawings for Drawing and Painting class -- that's the easiest for me. I've read the required pages for English and finished that short exercise for Japanese. Then there's still math problems to do.

I need to buy some stationery. Does anybody want to go with me to the bookstore?

I have been quite busy during the past few days, which is why there is lack of update on this journal. I couldn't resist participating in the many activities that have been organized and I've been out almost all of the time. This school is really amazing. The admin really went out of their way so that the students could enjoy, be more comfortable and get to know each other. Props to them. More schools should do this, I think.

Barbeque and the house meeting went along really well. Finally got to meet the rest of my housemates. Turns out that all of us are third years, except for this mischievous and energetic sophomore who burnt some of our sausages - Kirihara, I think that's his name. Quite an interesting character. I sure hope my housemates would be on the same class as me - that'd make things a bit easier.

I managed to get a few sketches done during the snow sculpturing competition. Some of the sculptures were really great that I just had the urge to draw them. I participated too, of course, but the product didn't quite turn out as I had expected. Oh well. It was fun, at least.

And this student lock-in activity was the first one I've encountered in my life. It was amusing to see some of the boys bickering over what movies to watch.

Classes start today. I'm slightly nervous. Can't wait for drawing and painting class though!

Yesterday's New Year Feast was very enjoyable, despite the fact that it's my first new year celebration away from my family. The food was great, but I somehow missed Kaasan's and Obaasan's special dishes. Nothing can really beat home-cooking. The shrines were very crowded, so I didn't go there immediately. I thought about my new year's resolutions when I took a stroll around the gardens and went back to the shrine during the final hour.

There's going to be a barbeque dinner later on and a house meeting, which I'm really looking forward to. I think I've met most of the people in my house already, but there are probably others who just moved in. It will be interesting, I'm sure.

I suppose settling in here wouldn't be as difficult as I had initially thought. The room is really nice and cozy, plus it's next to the bathroom. Certainly makes things easier in the mornings.

It's a good thing I was able to move in during the 27th. Was able to finish unpacking and fixing everything before my roommate came in. He's a very nice - Itsuki Manehiko, if I remember his name correctly. I haven't talked to him much yet, but I feel like we'll get along just fine.

The orientation was boring - shouldn't have attended seeing as a lot of students didn't come, but at least the campus tour was interesting. Mitsui Gakuen has lovely gardens. I think I know where I'll be spending my breaks.

I met quite a number of people today, mostly from my house. I even got invited to a party. This is going to be a fun year. :D
